The United Nations World Food Program (WFP) has warned that Afghanistan could become the world’s worst humanitarian crisis, surpassing Ethiopia, South Sudan, Syria and Yemen.
A recent IPC assessment (Integrated Food Security Phase Classification) report based on a global standard for food insecurity states that with the onset of winter, 22 million Afghans are at high risk of food shortages and 8 million are facing famine emergencies.

The United Nations has warned that one million children will soon be at risk of severe malnutrition and that more than two million will be at risk of moderate malnutrition.
