Despite breaking the national record in his own name, swimmer Alex Shah has been eliminated
from the hit stage of the Tokyo Olympics.
Alex set a national record in the men's 100-meter freestyle at a competition in Tokyo on Tuesday.
In the hit phase, Alex completed the 100 meter distance in 53.41 seconds. Earlier, the record was in his name. He had earlier set the record by completing the distance in 55.38 seconds.
Despite being in the top spot in the seven-player one-hit event, Alex failed to make it to the semifinals. Alex was ranked 59th in the Hit One competition with a total of 71 players competing. The top 16 players from the hit stage have made it to the semifinals.
Gaurika Singh, a swimmer participating in the Tokyo Olympics, will compete in the women's 100-meter freestyle on Wednesday.
